More Smoke and Mirrors
When the news first broke that the current administration doesn't want any investigations of former Bush Administration Advisers or legal counsels regarding torture/enhanced interrogation techniques, but that they wouldn't stand in the way of any investigation if the current legal advisers wanted to proceed, I knew instantly what to do: go to the computer and look for new legislation that they want to pass.
It's another one of those "don't look at the left hand, look at the right" methods that the current administration is so fond of using. While the media is busy covering this story, what aren't they covering?
1. All the attention has been taken off the preferred stock conversions that the Obama administration was talking about just a couple of short days ago. Let us not discuss that converting preferred stock to common stock would mean that the government would now have voting rights in any company that they've bailed out. Let's not discuss the fact that with voting rights comes unwielding power. Instead, let's make sure everyone in the world knows how evil the past administration was.
2. A new resolution, H.J. RES. 5. Currently this resolution doesn't have any big name sponsors, but it doesn't have to. Spend all your time talking about was it torture or wasn't it, and you won't realize that there was an amendment to the Constitution that would repeal the 22nd Amendment regarding term limits for Presidents. Can we all say Hail to the King? Let's not worry about amending the constitution. Instead, let's all make sure the whole world knows how we interrogate terrorists and how evil we were for doing so.
3. The Climate Bill. Nope, they don't want you paying any attention to that one either. Why would they? Pelosi has already promised this would pass by the end of the year. And it only means more regulations, more government control over every aspect of your daily lives. Oh, and lets not forget that it would mean your monthly electric bills would skyrocket. And skyrocket they will; anywhere from 50 to 100%. So if you're currently paying say $250 a month on your power bill, after the climate bill passes, you'd then be paying anywhere from $500 to $1000 a month. But let us not discuss that. Let us instead focus on the fact that the former administration didn't say they would use enhanced interrogation techniques only that they might. I guess it depends on what your definition of is is.
4. Nationalized Health Care. They keep talking about how we need universal healthcare in this country. Some people feel that a guarantee for access to health care should be a right of citizenship. Sounds great, but how do we pay for it? Do they think the healthcare fairy is going to come in and wave her magic wand and boom! Everyone gets free healthcare? If you read the article regarding Obama's healthcare plan at the following link; http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare you will find that the people supporting it believe that the Messiah will lower health care costs. It even says so right there on the site; Obama will lower health care costs.
Yep. And you won't have to worry about paying your mortgage or how you will put gas in your car either. And by the time this current administration is done with all the power grabs, none of us will have to worry about the preferred stock conversion, the climate bill, or nationalizing healthcare. We'll have a president for life and America, as we know it, will no longer exist as we once knew it; a free nation.
