Meet the New Boss: Same as the Old Boss?
"Neque est ullum certius amicitiae vinculum, quam consensus et societas consiliorum et voluntatum"
There is no more sure tie between friends than when they are united in their objects and wishes. - Cicero
Many 912'ers, Tea Partiers and other patriotic groups are calling for unity - national leadership. There are a number of sites and organizations attempting to stake a claim as the umbrella group.
We do need to "unite or die."
However, the last thing any of us or any effort wants or needs is a new master. Does not the centralized authority approach to unity duplicate the very thing we are rejecting and fighting against! Meet the new boss: Same as the old boss.
Unity should come in the form of voluntarily working together - communicating with each other. Not through layers of bureaucracy. Not through some arbitrary power structure.
Unity is not about a formal organization. It is about working together in freedom towards freedom - our common cause or as my son likes to phrase it, the "Glorious Cause."
One way our forefathers united in the Glorious Cause was through the Son's of Liberty Committees of Correspondence. In other words, they organized simply to communicate with each other. There were no bosses: only the like-minded sharing ideas and information and coordinating their actions.
Those individuals who have taken the initiative to stand up and lead are invited to join the modern version of this: Heirs of Liberty Committee of Correspondence.
